The Urban Renewal Authority is a very unique instrument of progress for the benefit of the Citizens of Seminole. The Oklahoma Legislature has given broad power to all “urban renewal” authorities to aid in the clean up and redevelopment of communities that are forward thinking enough to employ this type of tool. Seminole expects to look appealing. The Urban Renewal Authority is charged with tearing down dilapidated structures and redeveloping areas which might be considered blighted. Members of this Authority are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.  By law, members of this Authority may not hold other positions on City boards.
