WATER FAQ

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION?

Monday - Friday. 8am to 5pm. Closed from 12:00 to 1:00 for lunch.

 

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE SERVICE?

Water, sewer and garbage.

 

WHAT ARE THE TERMS OF SERVICE?

*NO PARTIAL PAYMENTS ARE ACCEPTED.

*All Accounts must be paid in full by the 10th of the month.

*All bills not paid by 5:00pm on the 10th of the month are subject to a 10% penalty which is due immediately.

*Past due accounts that have received a 'cutoff notice' must be paid in full (past due amount + current amount + 10% penalty) to avoid interruption of service.

*Any past due accounts notified of cutoff and not paid in full by the 10th of the month are subject to a $40 delinquent fee to maintain or reinstate service.

*Payments must be received in the water office (not the drop box) by 5:00 pm to be posted to the current day's business.

*Payments left in the drop box after 5;00 pm will be posted to the following day's business.

*Billing begins on the 20th of each month and bills are required to be in the mail by the 25th of each month.

*If your service is disconnected due to nonpayment, and payment is still not made by the 20th, which is when billing is started for the next month, your account will be finalized and your deposit used to pay the balance of your account. In order to get your service back on, you will have to pay the remaining past due plus a new deposit and come in person to the Water Department Office and start new service again. Refer to "How do I start new service" question.

 

HOW DO I START NEW SERVICE?

*You must come into the Water Department Office and fill out a Request for Residential Utilities form. (Download form HERE.)

*Pay a $100 deposit and a $20 non-refundable service charge, PLUS any past due amount in your name OR any name on the rental/lease agreement or deed/contract to purchase. (MUST BE PAID IN FULL)

*You must provide your current/valid photo ID.

*You must provide a rental/lease agreement or deed/contract to purchase that has your name on it.

*All these things must be presented before service can be turned on.

 

HOW DO I TRANSFER MY SERVICE FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER?

*You must come into the Water Department to fill out a Transfer of Utility Service Request form. (Download form HERE.)

*Your current bill must be paid in full.

*You must provide your current/valid photo ID.

*You must provide rental/lease agreement or deed/contract to purchase that has your name on it to your new place.

*A $15 transfer fee will be applied to the first bill of the new location.

 

HOW DO I DISCONNECT MY CURRENT SERVICE?

You must come into the Water Department Office and fill our a Disconnect Utility Request form, (Download form HERE) and provide a photo ID for verification. Service WILL NOT be turned off unless you come in and disconnect it, unless, the next renter/owner brings in their verification and has it turned on in their name which would automatically cut off your account.

 

WHAT IF A RELATIVE HAS DIED OR BECOME INCAPACITATED AND I NEED TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY OR DISCONNECT SERVICE?

Bring your power of attorney and or death certificate to the water office along with your identification.

 

WHEN I START SERVICE, HOW SOON WILL MY WATER BE TURNED ON?

If you come into the office before 4 pm, water service will be turned on that same day. If you come in after 4 pm then the water service will be turned on the next following business day.

 

WHERE IS THE CUTOFF NOTICE?

The cutoff notice is on your monthly bill. If you become delinquent, a cutoff notice will automatically print on your next bill.

 

CAN I TURN ON OR OFF MY OWN WATER?

NO. Only under extreme circumstances (like a gushing leak) should you attempt to turn your water on and off. Please call the water office and a member of the city water department will come out and turn the water off for you. Attempting to alter or disturb the meter in any way can result in a tampering fee of $50 for the first offense and $100 for every offense thereafter.

 

WHAT IF I DID NOT RECEIVE A BILL?

*Call the Water Department. It is still your responsibility to pay your bill on time. Late charges and delinquent fees will still be assessed as usual. Water bill are required to be in the m ail by the 25th of each month.

 

HOW CAN I PAY MY BILL?

ONLINE

*Click HERE to be routed to the website for payment

*Log in to the website and register your water account. You will need your account number and the amount of the last payment made on your account. Your fist payment after starting new service cannot be made online.

*Payment show in our system immediately, but the email alerting the staff does not. If your water has been cut-off, please call the water department at 405-382-0158 and let us know that you have made a payment.

*Please note: Online payments made after 5 pm on the 10th are still subject to fees and penalties the same as any other type of payment. To avoid extra charges, please make your payment BEFORE 5 pm CST on the 10th of the month.

*Your first payment after starting new service cannot be made online.

 

OVER THE PHONE

*Call 833-286-1240. Please note that online payments made after 5 pm on the 10th are still subject to fees and penalties the same as any other payment. To avoid extra charges, please make your payment BEFORE 5 pm CST on the 10th of the month. We are not able to process cards via the water office phone lines. please call the 800 number instead.

 

IN PERSON

*Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

 

DROP BOX

*Red drop box is located on the south side of the City Hall building. Please Note: Drop box payments that are dropped after 5:00 pm on the 10th will not be retrieved until the next day and are subject to penalty/disconnect.

 

AUTOMATED DRAFT BILL PAY

*Auto draft is available. We will draft your water payment from your bank account on the 10th of each month. Ask clerk from more information. Forms can be picked up in the water office or online. Make sure to attach a voided check to the form.

 

PLEASE NOTE: WE CANNOT TAKE PAYMENTS OVER THE PHONE IN OUR OFFICES.
